Law day 2013 HDThe year 2013 marks the 150th anniversary of the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation, as well as the 50th anniversary of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech.  This year’s Law Day theme, “Realizing the Dream: Equality for All,” recognizes the inextricable link between freedom and equality, the importance of living up to the promise of equality under the law enshrined in our nation’s founding documents, and the challenges that remain in realizing that ideal.

We at NBI are excited to to do our small part in ensuring equal legal representation for all by offering a free CLE course on fighting bias and discrimination!

Elimination of Bias in the Legal Practice is a one-hour on-demand program that will help you:

  • Understand how bias affects the behavior of all people involved in the legal process
  • Clarify laws prohibiting bias and how they’re applied in practice
  • Get definitive strategies for preventing bias in the legal setting – and learn what to do if it does occur.

To access the free course

On May 1st, follow this link (product ID 60013SADM), add the item to cart, and use discount code LawDay to check out (note: the code will only work on May 1, 2013 so be sure to take advantage of this while you can!).  You will have access to the course for the next 6 months.

As guardians and wielders of the law it falls upon attorneys to ensure that justice is equally available and impartial for all U.S. citizens. In the words of Martin Luther King Jr., “we must forever conduct our struggle on the high place of dignity and discipline.”  Thank you for your daily struggle to bring more fairness and equality to the legal process!

About Law Day

Law Day is an annual event, which was originally conceived in 1957 when American Bar Association President Charles Rhynes envisioned a special national day to mark our commitment to the rule of law.  The following year, President Dwight D. Eisenhower established the first Law Day.  Law Day was made official in 1961 when Congress issued a joint resolution designating May 1 as the official date for celebrating Law Day.
